When I met my husband, he already had a house. I had been living with my parents up until I married him. So, I’d never had to deal with searching for a place to live. I simply moved in with him after got married. When he left me and kicked me out, I suddenly had to face the handling things on my own for the first time. Unable to find a place that would be acceptable on my own, I complained to my mom. She said it’s not that hard to work with a certified property manager so that they can do the legwork for you. I never thought about that until she pointed it out. I feel that I have so much to learn about being an adult!
I think I led a pretty pampered life by living in my parent’s home for so long. I lived there until I was 32. That was partially because I had a lot of medical issues. I went to college and graduated. But before I could go job hunting, I found out that I have a chronic illness. But first, I took several years of me dealing with mysterious pain before doctors figured out what was causingit. I could not work, so I was at home most of the time. I had so many different pain issues that my mom handled most everything at home for me. I know that I also didn’t pay much attention to how she did things, which was certainly a mistake.
Mom said she would go with me to see a property manager to help if necessary. Thankfully, the woman who was helping did everything, and then mom was able to just enjoy viewing different properties with me. I was shown a place that afternoon that I fell in love with, and it was not a place that I had found on my own. It was worth it to work with someone who knew what she was doing.
